  22. a factory to produce computers for nothing.  I think that unless there
  23. was a very high demand for the computers AT would probably lose money
  24. in the long run opening up a new factory.

  41. :  an A1200 net bundle is an IBM multimedia bundle with a few extras. I see
  42. :  that the mass marketers in the NYC area are selling these bundles at from
  43. :  $850-$950 for and they all need a few things to make them into web access
  44. :  machine (those things can be different depending on the retailer or bundle.
  45. :  some bundles say monitor not included, some don't have modems, some come
  46. :  with only 4megs of ram, ect.). So the real price of a web access IBM system
  47. :  will realy come in at about $1,100 - $1,200 street price. That means that
  48. :  in order to be competative, the lesser known Amiga, would have to come in
  49. :  with a street price of around $850.00 to be competative, and that is for
  50. :  everything. It's possible to ship them here from France and sell them for
  51. :  under $850.00, but just. What is clearly needed is a low cost manufacturer
  52. :  preferably in or near the US. This means less control by AT from the home

  67. :  on units could come from the US, Canada, or Mexico, and be cheap enough
  68. :  to keep the presure on the compatition until you really are ready to
  69. :  bring out the PPC Amiga', then again, are you realy that confedent that
  70. :  you can bring out a realy good port of the PPC Amiga in the time you have
  71. :  given yourselfs. A nice fat ballance sheet could help cushion any
  72. :  dificulties that any slipage in delivery dates on the PPC Amiga might
  73. :  cause. Moreover, the Dollar is expected to rise in relationship to
  74. :  the DM this year, by as much as 20% (this is not a suggestion that you
  75. :  take your money out of computers and put it into currency futures).
  76. :  it is to say that a NA purchase of an Amiga could be unusualy rewarding
  77. :  in 1996. Also, manufacuturing capacity remains relatively slack in NA,
  78. :  so production costs should remain low. The DM will probably not decline
  79. :  in relation to the Peso if you are prepared to take a lower quality of
  80. :  workmanship (I would temporarily).

  82. :  stay the plan, but you need special operations forces to take advantage
  83. :  unforseen opertunities.
